Sci-fi

Sci-fi worlds, built for curiosity

Sci-fi is where technology misbehaves, societies bend, and tomorrow shows up early. In this catalog, the genre stretches from 1983 to 2026, with 356 games exploring space travel, alien life, robotics, dystopias, and the human habits that survive all of them. If you like your imagination with a hard edge of machinery, or a softer look at society under pressure, there is plenty here to get lost in.

What sci-fi means, and why it keeps pulling players in

Science fiction imagines advanced or futuristic changes in technology, scientific knowledge, or biology, then asks what people do when those changes arrive. That can mean hard science fiction, cyberpunk, space opera, or climate fiction, among other branches. The genre is broad enough to hold exploration, transhumanism, parallel universes, environmental challenges, and the occasional future that looks suspiciously like a warning. Very polite of it, really.

Part of the appeal is that sci-fi can be adventurous and analytical at the same time. It can deliver spectacle, but it also has room to question present-day society, test different futures, and explore human reactions to change. That mix has kept it moving from literature into film, television, and games, where machines, starships, and odd new worlds tend to behave just unpredictably enough to be interesting.

Where to start in our catalog

If you want familiar touchstones first, start with BATTLETECH, Advent Rising, Albion, Archimedean Dynasty, and Battle Engine Aquila. For newer entries, look at 3001: A Lust Odyssey, Aaero2: Black Razor Edition, Alien Breed 35th Anniversary, Aphelion, and Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes. If you want a wider spread, Battle Isle: The Andosia War, Alien Shooter + Expansions, Battles of Destiny, and Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Demo all show different ways sci-fi can sound, look, and move.

The catalog also reflects how long this genre has stayed active, with releases spanning from 1983 to 2026. Some developers appear again and again, including Origin Systems, Lucasfilm, Omnitrend Software, Inc., 4A Games, and Raven Software. That sort of range is a good sign if you are browsing for a specific mood, because sci-fi rarely settles for one costume. It keeps changing shape, which is half the fun.
