Overview

It’s 1 Feb, 2024, and the hour between one day and the next is your problem now. Persona 3 Reload puts you in the shoes of a transfer student pulled into the Dark Hour, where the ordinary rules of school life stop being much help. It is a remake of Persona 3, rebuilt with cutting-edge graphics, updated gameplay, and a modern UI that keeps the action readable while everything else gets stranger.

By day, you choose how to spend your time across activities, Port Island, and the bonds you build with other characters. By night, you gather a team and take on otherworldly Shadows, pushing closer to the truth behind the Dark Hour. The game keeps its RPG roots, but it also leans into strategy and social simulation, so every decision has something riding on it — even when that decision is apparently “go cook in the dorm.”

Reload adds new scenes, character interactions, and additional voiceover, while also bringing in quality-of-life changes, a fully rendered 3D overworld, and a third-person camera behind the protagonist. On Windows, it supports single-player play, controller support, adjustable difficulty, and keyboard-only play. It is still Persona 3 at heart, but with sharper edges, cleaner flow, and enough new material to make the familiar feel freshly haunted.

When it’s time to fight, you build and command your optimal team to take down Shadows. The RPG side sits alongside strategy, so preparation matters as much as the clash itself. The game also adds modernised quality-of-life features, which should make moving between scenes, tasks, and combat feel smoother than in the original release.

Use the new tools around you

Reload expands the dorm with extra activities, including talking with residents, cooking, gardening, watching films, and reading books. These activities strengthen Social Stats and can unlock later interactions. You can also fast-travel within highlighted areas from the map, and the camera sits behind the protagonist for exploration, giving the world a clearer, more immediate feel.
