Question 1

How do I get Monuments of Mars to respond to the keyboard after pressing Play?

Accepted Answer

After pressing Play, click the game once so the keyboard input works. Monuments of Mars uses the original control layout, mapped to your keyboard or on-screen buttons, so once it’s focused you can use the mapped controls shown by the emulator menu.

Question 2

What do the Monuments of Mars controls do on desktop?

Accepted Answer

On desktop, the mapped controls are Arrows to move, Ctrl to fire, Space to open doors or use objects, Shift to run, Enter to confirm, and Esc for the menu. The game uses the original control layout, so these actions match the emulator’s mapping.

Question 3

What does Space do in Monuments of Mars?

Accepted Answer

Space handles opening doors and other use actions. The tips also remind you to remember that Space is the use key, so it’s important to keep in mind when the game asks you to interact with doors or objects.

Question 4

How can I check or change the key mapping in Monuments of Mars?

Accepted Answer

Open the emulator menu and check the current mapping first. The copy says the emulator menu shows and changes the key mapping, so if anything feels off during play, you can review the setup there before continuing.

Question 5

Why should I use fullscreen in Monuments of Mars?

Accepted Answer

Fullscreen can make the picture easier to see and gives a clearer view while you play. The guide also says it can reduce distractions and make the original MS-DOS presentation easier to follow, which helps during longer sessions.
