PlayStation Vita

Inside the Sony Playstation Vita library

The Sony Playstation Vita is a handheld console from Sony Computer Entertainment, built as the successor to the PlayStation Portable. It arrived first in Japan on December 17, 2011, then in other territories on February 22, 2012. Our catalog holds 197 games for it, with releases from 2009 to 2016. That spread tells its own story, a library shaped by late-era experiments, familiar series, and more than a few portable oddities worth your time.

What kind of machine the Vita was

The Vita was designed to mix big console ambition with the convenience of mobile gaming. The original model came with a 5-inch OLED multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, a rear touchpad, two analog joysticks, and front and shoulder buttons. It also supported Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, with a version that added 3G. Later came the PS Vita 2000 series, released across 2013 and 2014, with a smaller body, longer battery life, and an LCD panel instead of OLED.

What to play first in our catalog

This system is especially known for JRPGs, visual novels, and Western-developed indie games, and that mix shows up clearly here. If you want a sharp place to begin, look at Axiom Verge Multiverse Edition, Bastion, 1001 Spikes, Assassin's Creed Chronicles, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, and Asphalt: Injection. The Atelier games also have a strong showing, including Atelier Ayesha Plus: The Alchemist of Dusk, Atelier Escha & Logy Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky, Atelier Meruru Plus: The Apprentice of Arland, Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist of Arland, and Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland (Japan).
