A sunny community hall with a wooden floor, bunting and a retro wall scoreboard, and one table tennis table in the middle. The game is shown from the side and the ball really spins: your paddle motion at the moment of contact decides whether it dives with topspin or dies short with backspin. Eight tournament opponents wait, each with a style of their own, from Dina the Wall to Champion Maya. There is a quick match with four levels, two players on one screen, a daily challenge of consecutive returns against a ball machine, and an instant replay of the last point. Stars come from the tournament and coins buy new paddles and tables. No sign-up. Play sets to 11 points with a two-point lead, and a match is best of 3 sets (the tournament final is best of 5). Move the paddle with the mouse or a finger on the left side. The ball must bounce once on your half before you return it, and hitting before the bounce is not allowed. Swinging the paddle up at contact creates topspin, down creates backspin, and swinging forward sends the ball deep. The power meter fills with every good return, then you can trigger a fast, flat power shot. To serve, click to toss and place the paddle under the ball. The server changes every two points. In the tournament a win gives a star, winning without dropping a set a second, and clean play a third. Consigli e strategia

• Wait for the bounce and then close in on the ball instead of chasing it in the air
• Topspin kicks forward after the bounce, so stand a little farther back
• Backspin dies short, so step forward to reach it
• Save your power shot for a high ball above the net so it becomes a smash
• Against the defender mix short and long to pull her around
• When serving, vary the depth so your opponent cannot settle
