Go Garden is the ancient game of Go on small, friendly boards, 9 by 9 and 13 by 13, in a bright and peaceful zen garden. Two sides place stones, capture enemy stones and try to surround more territory. All the rules are in: liberties, capture, ko, no suicide, area scoring with komi and handicap stones. The computer plays at four levels, from Sprout, which follows rules of thumb, to Ancient Oak, which weighs hundreds of practice games and works within a time limit so it runs smoothly on a phone. There are capture puzzles for learning, a daily puzzle, a journey of ten opponents, three stone sets and four boards. The board starts empty and Black moves first. On your turn tap an empty intersection to place a stone; it never moves afterwards. A group with no empty liberty next to it is captured. You may not play a move that leaves your own group without liberties unless it captures, and you may not immediately repeat an earlier position (ko). You can pass. When both sides pass, dead stones are marked and the score is counted: stones plus empty area surrounded only by you, with White getting 6.5 extra points. The higher score wins. Controls: on desktop, Click an intersection on the board; Z undo, H hint, P or Esc to pause; on mobile, Tap an intersection (on the 13x13 board the first tap shows the spot and the second places the stone); large buttons for pass, undo and hint. What is inside: Full Go rules: liberties, capture, ko, no suicide and area scoring, 9x9 and 13x13 boards with 2 to 5 handicap stones, Four computer levels, two rule-of-thumb players and two using time-boxed Monte Carlo search, Ten capture puzzles for learning and a daily puzzle with a day streak, A journey of ten opponents, some with handicap stones, plus a two-player mode, Four boards and three stone sets unlocked with coins. Each win earns up to three stars and coins, and the next opponent unlocks after a win. Solved puzzles pay stars and coins once. Progress is saved on this device only, with no sign-up. Tip: Play near the corners and the first edges: territory is easier to build there. Play free in your browser, with no sign-up and no download.

Sobre o jogo
Perguntas frequentes
How do I capture stones?
Every group of black or white stones has liberties: the empty points touching it. When you fill the last liberty of an enemy group, the whole group is captured and removed. The capture puzzles train exactly this.
What is the ko rule?
A situation where you can capture a single stone and your opponent could immediately capture back and recreate the same position. The game forbids repeating an earlier board position, so you must play elsewhere first. The ko point is marked with a red square.
How is the score counted and why is there komi?
Scoring counts area: your stones on the board plus the empty points surrounded only by you. Because Black moves first, White gets 6.5 extra points, and in a handicap game the komi is half a point.
What happens when both players pass?
The game moves to counting. The computer marks stones it thinks are dead, you can tap a group to switch it between alive and dead, then confirm the result.
How do the computer levels differ?
Sprout and Bamboo follow rules of thumb such as saving a stone in atari and capturing when possible. Pine and Ancient Oak play many random practice games for every move and pick the most promising one, and Ancient Oak thinks longer. On a phone the computer simply fits fewer practice games into the same time.
What are the capture puzzles and the daily puzzle?
In each puzzle Black captures the White group marked with a red triangle in one or two moves, even against the best defence. A wrong move does not stay on the board. Hint shows a solution, and the daily puzzle changes every day and grows your day streak.
Do I need to download or sign up?
No. The game runs directly in your browser, with no account and no installation.
Where is my best score saved?
Only on your own device, in the browser’s local storage. It is never sent anywhere.
