PlayStation 5

Sony Playstation 5, built for fast loading and big spectacle

The Sony Playstation 5 is a home console from Sony Interactive Entertainment, and it sits in the ninth generation alongside Xbox Series X/S. In our catalog, it spans 177 games, from 1970 to 2025, which is a pleasingly chaotic stretch of history. The machine itself leans hard into speed, with a custom solid-state drive, 4K output up to 120 frames per second, ray tracing, Tempest Engine audio, and DualSense haptics. Quite a lot for one box.

What the PlayStation 5 is

The PS5 arrived in 2020 as Sony's successor to PlayStation 4, with launch models that included a disc version and a Digital Edition. Later revisions slimmed things down, and a PlayStation 5 Pro followed in 2024 with a faster GPU, improved ray tracing, and AI-driven upscaling. Backward compatibility covers the majority of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games, which makes the jump feel less like moving house and more like rearranging the same shelves at higher speed.

What it is known for, and where to start in our catalog

This platform is especially associated with cinematic action, sharp lighting, and games that appreciate quick loading as much as you do. In our catalog, you can start with Astro's Playroom, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, A Plague Tale: Innocence, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Atomic Heart, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Back 4 Blood, and Auto Chess. If you want something with a more mischievous mood, 3D Mini Golf and 3D Billards: Pool & Snooker - Remastered are also here, because even a grand console needs a little nonsense.
